Iran Ready to Explore Strategic Cooperation with SCCR Indonesia and APU to Advance Technological Innovation

SEMARANG – The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia, H.E. Mohammad Boroujerdi, made an official visit to Stem Cell and Cancer Research (SCCR) Indonesia and the Agung Putra University (APU) campus in Gunungpati, Semarang, on Thursday, July 23.

The visit aimed to explore opportunities for strategic cooperation between the two countries in biomedical research, technology development, and higher education.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi delivered a general lecture titled “The Current Geopolitical Situation of Iran”. SCCR Indonesia, meanwhile, presented the latest advances in stem cell technology during a session titled “Development of Stem Cell Technology”.

Opportunities for Collaboration and Technology Transfer

Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Boroujerdi expressed strong optimism about the potential for collaboration. He emphasized that the partnership would deliver tangible benefits to communities in both Indonesia and Iran.

“Iran, SCCR Indonesia, and APU can collaborate across various strategic sectors, from student exchange programs and joint technology research to reciprocal visits between research institutions in both countries,” Mohammad Boroujerdi said.

He also praised the achievements and research facilities, including the laboratories, at SCCR Indonesia and APU.

“Today's visit has been extremely valuable to us. This institution has demonstrated that it is highly advanced in the development of stem cells, biomedical science, and biotechnology. We are delighted and ready to bring this collaboration to fruition,” he added.

The Founder and Commissioner of SCCR Indonesia, who also serves as President of APU Foundation, Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si.Med., welcomed the prospective partnership. He noted that Iran is among the countries making rapid progress in scientific and technological innovation.

“SCCR Indonesia and APU have a very strong focus on advancing biomedical science and biotechnology. Given Iran's rapid technological development, we warmly welcome this opportunity for cooperation so that the results of the collaboration can ultimately benefit the wider community,” Prof. Agung said.

Following the visit, both parties committed to promptly advancing the cooperation plan through a formal agreement, with the goal of promoting progress in science and health internationally and benefiting the people of Indonesia and Iran.
