Advancing Global Research Quality, Agung Putra University (APU) and UKM Malaysia Collaborate on International Publication Workshop
SEMARANG – Publishing research in reputable international journals is an important part of advancing research and contributing to academic development. To strengthen the capacity of its lecturers and researchers to produce scientific publications that meet international standards, Agung Putra University (APU) held an International Publication Workshop on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
In collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), APU brought experienced academics and researchers to Semarang to share practical insights on academic writing and strategies for publishing in international journals.
The workshop was attended by members of the APU academic community and featured an interactive discussion. The collaboration gave participants an opportunity to gain perspectives from UKM academics on various aspects that need to be considered when preparing manuscripts for international publication.
Discussing Strategies for Publishing in International Journals
The workshop was moderated by Dian Respati Ayu, M.Biomed and featured ChM. Dr. Nurul Asikin binti Mijan from UKM as the speaker.
In her presentation, Dr. Nurul Asikin discussed several important aspects of scientific writing, from preparing manuscripts to developing strategies for submitting articles for publication. Participants were also encouraged to understand the importance of clearly presenting the novelty of their research so that its academic contribution can be communicated more effectively.
In addition to academic writing, the session also covered the peer review process, including how authors can respond appropriately to reviewers' comments and revision requests. Participants also learned about the importance of identifying the characteristics of credible journals and avoiding predatory journals.
The discussion continued with a question-and-answer session. During this session, APU lecturers had the opportunity to ask questions and seek advice on publication manuscripts they were currently preparing.
Strengthening the University's Research Ecosystem
The workshop provided members of the APU academic community with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain new perspectives on international academic publishing. The exchange of experiences with academics from an international institution is also expected to support the development of research capacity at APU.
The collaboration with UKM is part of APU's efforts to expand its academic network and create a research environment that supports the development of research and scientific publications.
Through academic activities and cross-institutional collaborations such as this, APU continues to encourage its academic community to develop research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge at both the national and international levels.
