From Research to Publication: Agung Putra University (APU) Strengthens Academic Development for Lecturers
SEMARANG – Agung Putra University (APU) strengthened its scientific publication policy for lecturers through the Socialization of Scientific Publication Policy: Mandatory Scientific Publication in SCOPUS-Index Journals for APU Lecturers, held at the APU Auditorium on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.
The event provided an opportunity for APU to introduce its scientific publication policy while discussing the role of research and publications in developing lecturers' academic capacity. The policy is intended to encourage APU lecturers to become more active in producing and publishing academic work in Scopus-indexed journals.
Encouraging a Culture of Scientific Publication
Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si.Med., who is known for his role in the development of SCCR Indonesia and APU, served as the keynote speaker at the event. In his presentation, he discussed the direction of APU’s scientific publication policy and the importance of building a more consistent research culture within the university.
Scientific publications provide lecturers with a way to share research findings while introducing academic ideas and discoveries to a wider scientific community. Therefore, the publication policy is not only related to fulfilling institutional requirements but also to developing sustainable habits in research and academic writing.
During the session, lecturers were encouraged to view the publication process as part of their academic journey, from preparing manuscripts and going through peer review to revising and publishing their work in international journals relevant to their respective research fields.
Bringing Academic and Industry Perspectives Together
In addition to Prof. Agung Putra, the event featured Omar Sjawaldy Anwar, President Commissioner of BNI and Independent Commissioner, as a Guest Lecturer. The participation of a senior professional from the banking sector provided a different perspective on the relationship between academia and industry needs.
The discussion expanded the perspective on research by exploring how academic knowledge can be connected to issues and needs in the professional world. Insights from the business sector gave lecturers an opportunity to understand the importance of producing research with broader relevance to both society and industry.
Bringing academic and professional perspectives together was an important part of the event. Through this forum, APU lecturers not only gained a better understanding of the university’s publication policy but also explored how research can be positioned within a broader context beyond higher education.
The socialization of this policy is one of APU’s steps toward building a more structured research and publication ecosystem. Its implementation is expected to go hand in hand with improving lecturers' academic capacity, enhancing research quality, and expanding APU’s international academic network.
